Yamaha XVS 1100

The original Yamaha XVS1100 motorcycle seat was very uncomfortable and was taken to an upholsterer in nearby Emerald, who added soft foam to the back of the seat, then covered it with 10mm blue foam. After three attempts of trying to improve comfort, finally owner consulted me, to have the seat rectified.

Photos were sent of the Yamaha motorcycle and of owner on the motorcycle, as well as his height and weight specs and the seat posted.

The problems were obvious as soon as the seat was stripped. I stripped the seat back to original, then reshaped the seat specific to suit the owners riding position and comfort, then custom covered the motorbike seat with black basket weave, with blue piping and plain border.

  1. Hi. Am am interested in having my seat made more comfortable. My bike is a yamaha v star 1100. My lower back is stuffed so i need a seat i xan sit on not on. I have a airhawk & thick sheepskin cover but they don’t help much. I could come to Brisbane for a day trip if that service is available.

  2. I have a 2003 ST1300, live in Orange, NSW and am very happy with everything about my bike except the seat. I have put a sheepskin which adds some comfort, but I keep sliding forwards and have to reposition myself. The seat has 4 settings for height. The lowest gives good foot grip on the ground, but the seat slopes forward the most. When on max height, the seat is at it’s best, but I can’t put my feet flat on the ground. The contact area of the seat is too small I feel, giving me a right pain in the butt after about an hour. I would like the seat as low as possible and wider to spread the load. How do you go about shaping the seat to suit me? I assume that I would need my butt and bike up there or at least my seat? Keen to hear back from you.
